Creativity and art have always run deep in rlndnr's blood. But it took years of freelancing and working a regular design agency job, a pandemic and being made redundant, to pick up decades of ideas, scribbles, sketches, brain dumps or unfinished project files and finally develop them into complete and refined work.
Like the colourful, wild and wide imagination of a child, rlndnr's creations are not tied to a singular style or colour palette. The only common denominator might be an almost sculptural approach, a viewpoint on an individual object or a simple composition of connected, interacting and synergising parts positioned in a calm, mostly empty space, like an exhibit on show in a museum or in a public space.
The work shows high levels of playfulness, abstract and absurd observations and obvious influences from classical, visual art, but also product and graphics design and the complex beauty and mystery of nature. Physical phenomenas like refraction and reflexion are also recurring themes.
The foundation of every project realisation is meticulous research and a phase of experimentation. Beyond that, each piece goes through several stages during its creation and is processed through rlndnr's creative mind machine. The artistic thoughts and emotional aspects come naturally and the decades of experience as a professional designer add a layer of critical review and creative direction and self reflexion.
